When You Trap A Tiger
by Tae Keller
View in Library Catalog
book cover

This was a fantastic book! It has won the Newberry Award for juvenile fiction (chapter book). Two sisters and their widowed mother move in with their ailing grandmother. The girls resent the move away from home and friends. It's difficult to cope with all that and the grandmother with dementia. This story includes making new friends, coping with a magical tiger and accepting death. It will make you smile and cry! This would a great read-aloud to share with older children and adults!

Writers And Lovers Lily King

Lily King's writing is so descriptive that you feel the struggles of her characters and get very wrapped up in the main character's life! The way she described the job of waitresses gave me a whole new perspective on the hospitality industry. The tension that is woven throughout the book makes it hard to put down. It's one of those books that you want to finish in one sitting!

I really enjoyed the first book in the Victor the assassin series. I am definitely adding this to my list of series to read. I look forward to finding out Victor really is in the future.

More than Sexy

This is not quite an erotic romance but more of a romance mixed with mystery. It has a good story line that diverts a couple times but does conclude all at the end.

Billie B Brown The Best Project

The Billie B Brown series is one of our favorites...they're perfect for quick family read alouds or assisted beginner reads. We loved that this one highlighted Billie's baby brother since we have a baby in our family too. We laughed quite a bit in this one.

Sundown Towns

I did not realize how many towns existed across the U.S. I was also concerned that they lasted for so long.

The King Maker

This book was a fantastic mix of Romance, Native American Activism, and straight up ugly Capitalism. The main characters (Nix and Maxim) are fantastically well written and developed. The author really must have done a lot of research for this story, and she was very good at finding a topic that is very relatable to what is happening today without, completely mirroring real situations. I jumped right in to the sequel!

Not a romance novel! Just a good western story about the difficulties people endured.
