I’m still loving this series! I like that when Gilly finds out that her younger sister Anna is going to FTRS and that Rumplestilskin is running it she gets herself sentenced there to attempt to save. No matter what it takes!

Why Kill The Innocent By C.s. Harris

4 stars for a solid addition to this excellent historical mystery series. It is set in London, January, 1814. Alexi Sauvage has introduced Hero Devlin to a 8 months pregnant wife of a recently impressed cooper. Her husband was snatched of the street by a Royal Navy press gang. She is desperate need of food and coal. Hero and her friend Alexi assist her in the successful birth of her child. They are returning to Hero's carriage when they stumble upon the body of a woman. Hero recognizes her as Jane Ambrose, piano teacher to Princess Charlotte, the Regent's daughter. She sends word to her husband, Sebastian St Cyr, Viscount Devlin. Sauvage has told Hero that the body was moved after death, due to the lack of blood from the wound. Devlin decides to investigate what was either a murder or manslaughter. However, the Palace does not want this classed as a murder, because it would embarrass the Royal family. The authorities announce that she died as a result of a fall, hitting her head. Devlin angers some powerful people by investigating and is attacked. He does solve the murder. There are many suspects with twists and turns in the plot. I was not sure of who the killer was until near the end. I like that the author incorporates the use of terms in use in 1814 London: Footpad=robber cutpurse=thief Description of Hero's clothes: "Unable to use her carriage in the snow-filled streets and scorning sedan chairs, she pulled on demi-broquins of fine morocco lined with fur, wrapped herself in a fur trimmed pelisse with a matching Swedish hat fastened up on one side, and walked." The author discusses the plight of the poor, compared with the rich and the inequities of limited suffrage, and limitations placed upon talented women in Regency Britain. I recommend that you read this series in order, as there are developments in Devlin's personal life throughout the series. Wow! I’ve seen the movie many times, but the book is soooo much more detailed. The descriptive narrative is absolutely beautiful, and makes it easy to imagine.

A typical ex-motor cycle club book. This has a lot of different story lines that do come together by the end. It is part of a series but I didn't read any more. I am curious of the next book, but reading a sample didn't peak my interest enough.

Another action packed victor the assassin story. Looks like he’s free from the CIA, only to be on Mossads hit list. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series

4 stars for a welcome addition to this police procedural series set in the remote Texas border with Mexico. I started reading this series 6 years ago when I won book 4 in the series, Firebreak I enjoyed it and have been reading the series in order since then. This is book 3 in the series. In this book, Dillon Reese, the only accountant in the fictional town of Artemis, Texas, is kidnapped. Josie Gray is the police chief of the 3 person force. She is in a relationship with Dillon. Dillon's secretary, Christina Handley, is found shot dead in his office. There are several elements in this book: The murder of Christina Kidnapping of Dillon Involvement of the Medrano drug cartel A local shady junkyard dealer in wrecked cars Josie, Otto Podowski and Marta Cruz are the 3 Artemis officers. They do solve the case, with help from the FBI, Sheriff Roy Martinez and a private hostage negotiator, hired by Josie. If you like strong woman characters as found in books by Sue Grafton, Nevada Barr and Linda Castillo, then you will enjoy this series. Both my wife and I like this series. One quote: "Forest Glen Apartments was located on a downtown street, three blocks over from the county courthouse, with one small pine tree at the center of a grassy strip in front of the complex. The building was a one-story stucco, painted a garish blue, with the eight apartment doors painted Pepto-Bismol pink." I read this library book in 3 days. I had to get it through inter library loan, which was shut down for a while last year during the Covid crisis.

Appreciated getting a few days advance copy of this book- -With the pandemic, that wasn’t much, though! Somehow I can’t give this a 5- loved the characters, the story, the setting, the economy of words that is perfect Nora Roberts-The Latina maid and the privileged characters , the man that comes to kill her is described-doesn’t need to be- I think the times have made me hyper sensitive! I enjoy her books when there is a touch more suspense. She continues to be one of my favorite authors, and I will never forget meeting her in person, at a grocery store visit, of all places!
