I like tHIS book a lot. The first time you read it, it’s a tiny bit scary. I read all the books every night.

This book fell flat for me. I have enjoyed many Susan Wiggs books but this one I would not recommend. It was very slow.

Harry Bosch is a retired police detective who wants nothing to do with Micky Hallers defense case. But as soon a he offers to just look into the case, he is drawn in and there is no turning back. He quickly finds out that several murders are all connected to two unsuspecting persons. As he digs deeper into the case, it becomes more dangerous for him.

Where The Crawdads Sing

I mostly enjoyed this book. I thought Kya "Marsh Girl" was a resilient character and Tate was a compassionate character, but was disappointed by the ending. I also thought that the poems sprinkled throughout the book were too much in some of the chapters. Owens was very descriptive in her writing and I could vividly picture the setting. Overall I enjoyed the book until the last chapter.

I chose this because it was a staff pick and I wasn't disappointed. Penny finds love letters from her father to her mother, but doesn't get the chance to read them. Her father explains there are many types of love and we see that throughout the book. After her father dies, Penny feels her mother doesn't love her. Penny has to go to work after the death of her father. She works in the dead letter officer reading misdirected letters in an attempt to find the intended recipient. One letter touches her heart, making her long for true love. My only complaint with the book was it was set in the late 1800s and the dialogue seemed too modern for the time frame. Otherwise it was a great book.

This sequel to the King Maker, was just as fantastic as the first start to the story! It picks up exactly where the first installation leaves you on a cliff. I loved this story from start to finish. I loved that the author chose some tough topics that are applicable today as the running theme through the story. I also loved that this was straight up romance too!!

Red Bones Ann Cleeves

I rate this book a solid 4 stars. The cover classes it as a thriller, but I thought it was more of a mystery than a thriller. A woman named Mima is killed one night on Whalsay Island, part of the Shetland Islands, Scotland. At first it is thought to be an accident, because a neighbor was out shooting rabbits at midnight in fog and accidentally shot her. But DI Jimmie Perez suspects that there is more to this and keeps digging. A second person is found dead, possibly suicide. Perez does solve the case, but the killer is not revealed until near the end, and the author left enough false clues, that I wasn't sure of the who or why until it all came together at the end. Anne Cleeves writes descriptive books. This series, set in the Shetlands, is best read in order, as I have been doing. Perez is identified as a "Black Shetlander,"i.e. descended form a shipwrecked Spanish Armada sailor in 1588. Some quotes: Mima's house: "Her house was tucked into the hill and you came on it very suddenly." Evelyn Wilson, describing university students working on an archaeological dig: "The two lasses from the university were there. What nice wee girls they are, although I think that Hattie could do with a bit of feeding up.. She's a skinny little thing. All eyes and bone." Perez thinking about his boss, the Procurator Fiscal: "He found it hard to explain the role of the Fiscal to English colleagues. Even Fran couldn't grasp it. 'But what does she do?' Perez always said that she was a cross between a magistrate and a prosecuting lawyer, but Fran didn't even get that." Jimmie is in a relationship with Fran, an English woman. I read this library book in 4 days.

I really enjoyed this book. It takes a little while for the storyline to “catch” you, but once it does it is hard to put down. Such a twist at the end, something I most definitely did not expect!! I would recommend this book.
